May 28, 2025 — The Systems Thinking Standards Institute (STSI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Rich Maltzman, PMP, to its Science Board. Maltzman brings over four decades of experience in engineering, project management, and sustainability-focused leadership to the interdisciplinary body responsible for shaping the Global Systems Thinking Standard (STS®).

A Master Lecturer at Boston University's Metropolitan College, Maltzman develops and delivers graduate-level courses in project leadership, decision-making, and sustainability integration. His academic work is informed by a 40-year career in the telecommunications industry, including leadership roles at Nokia, Alcatel-Lucent, and AT&T, where he specialized in global program management and professional advancement.

Maltzman is the co-founder of EarthPM, LLC, an organization dedicated to embedding sustainability thinking into project management practices. He has co-authored several influential books, including Green Project Management, Driving Project, Program, and Portfolio Success, and Great Meetings Build Great Teams. His most recent work, AI-Powered Leadership, explores the intersection of artificial intelligence and project leadership.

An active contributor to the Project Management Institute (PMI), Maltzman served on the Review Committee for the 7th Edition of the PMBOK® Guide, ensuring the integration of sustainability principles into the global standard.

“Rich’s leadership in the field of project management has long been an inspiration to many of us,” said Dr. Dave Silberman, STSI Science Board member. “His expertise in developing powerful, essential standards that are practical and evidence-based is exactly the kind of knowledge that will benefit STSI’s mission—and the global standards we’re building together.”
